Hey guys! Uhh yeah, sorry for dipping. My personal life got extremely crazy right at the time I was trying to seriously start this whole blogging thing, so I took some time in the name of self-care, figured my shit out, and now I’m ready to do this!
So this post is going to be geared more towards a lifestyle post and I’m going to share my recent experience with realizing just how important self-care is.
I work in retail, and while I LOVE it, the holidays are an insane time with long hours and overwhelming expectations. You have to be on your A Game at work (its peak szn baby), you have family obligations, things to do with your significant other, a MILLION gifts to buy, and more thank likely, on top of all of that, you’re probably dead broke too. It. Is. Hard. In addition to all of that stress, my relationship hit an extremely rough patch, and in all honesty, is still in that rough patch. I don’t really know what will happen with that, but that’s okay. It is okay to not be okay.
I saw a quote on Pinterest that really resonated with me. It read “Keep taking time for yourself until you are you again” – Lalah Delia. It clicked so much that I took a week off of work, a week that desperately need apparently. During that week, I caught up on sleep, i watched my favorite shows without guilt, I deep cleaned my apartment, I spent time with my family, I daydreamed about my goals and dreams for the first time in a very long time. I was able to gain clarity and refocus my energy to be more productive and happy. I need that week of self-care, everyone needs self care, whether it be a week or a few minutes each day. It is SO important, you should never let yourself get rundown to the point of just done with life.
Anyways, thanks for letting me rant and be seriously off brand here in this post. I encourage everyone to divulge in some self-care today and always!
-xoxo, Ash
